12 things travelers forge

We don’t wish upon to anyone to forget things at home, in the airport, or in the hotel room at your destination. There are about a dozen things people forget, but there are ways to do without them: read on!

Specific bathroom products
Oral cleaning products, deodorant, or hair removal products: forgetting any of these items have similar solutions. Most hotels provide these products to their guests. Conditioner can be used as shaving cream, and a hand sanitizer will clean your armpits nicely.

Chargers
Forgetting these at home could be a tragedy, however you might find an extra at the front desk you can borrow, or perhaps some other tourist could be kind enough to lend you theirs. If nobody has the same gadget brand as you, you could always try an electronics store as some might have power stations. Be prepared to pay a small fee though.

Outlet adapters
Traveling to various countries around the world without an adapter could mean dead gadgets. You might be able to find one at the airport, or even in the hotel. However, if your room comes with a TV or a laptop, you can use the USB plug to charge – just make sure to turn the device on.

Makeup, perfume, or makeup remover
You can try a make-over in a cosmetic store, and make a purchase if you like the products. The same, asking for a perfume sample should be easy enough as well. There is nothing wrong with trying to live for a few days without these products – it can be liberating. Wash your face with a mild soap to remove impurities, however the hotel might provide some in the room.

Glasses, contacts, or contacts solution
It could be difficult and quite expensive to buy the first two while on holiday, as they’re usually sold based on a prescription. The contacts solution can be replaced with some mineral water to which you add some salt. It would be best to use boiled [or distilled] water though. Hopefully you didn’t throw your contacts away, as you can reuse those for a few days if you clean them, even with the make-shift solution.

Rain protection gear
You probably thought you wouldn’t need it, but you can turn some clean garbage bags into a poncho and a bonnet like hear wear. Fashionable? No, but dry.

Cash
There are still countries where cash is king. However, ATMs will be available so you can withdraw as much cash as you need, though you might have to pay some higher fees.

Underwear
Luckily, buying new undies is easy and can be quite cheap. Washing the ones you wear could also be a solution.

Corkscrew or a bottle opener
You’ll most likely find these at the hotel, and you could borrow one for a short time. Other objects could also do the job.

Hotel room footwear
You should probably not even try to pack it as many hotels will provide at least a pair per room. Shower caps can also be used as an alternative.

Medication
Usually you can easily get your medication in your home country with call to the doctor. While abroad, you might need to either consult your embassy or your insurer.

Headphones
You might have some on the plane, but not at the hotel. You could try to take the ones on the plane with you, especially if you paid for them, or ask the front desk if there are any forgotten.
